TRAFFIC COURT INFORMATION

New Criminal and Traffic Laws to Clear Your Record

The Traffic Division for the First Municipal District handles only tickets issued within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago.  Please see the suburban districts information for tickets issued within Cook County, but not within the City of Chicago.

Description and Cases Heard

The Traffic Division of the First Municipal District is responsible for the maintenance of records and collection of fines for all cases involving City of Chicago moving  violations. The Traffic Violations Bureau does NOT hear matters related to parking tickets.  Traffic Violations Bureau is located at the Richard Daley Center, Chicago. The Chief Deputy Clerk is Kevin J. Harris 312/603-2922.

Case Types: Moving vehicle violations within Cook County.

Dates: Most Traffic Division cases are retained for five years and then destroyed pursuant to statute other cases are held for a longer period of time.
