Civil No Contact Orders

This order protects victims of nonconsensual sexual conduct perpetrated by the respondent. The victim can petition for this order and the following people can also be protected: family or household member of that victim, family pets, and rape crisis center employees and volunteers. The criminal charge requires the use of force or the threat of force; however, the petitioner of sexual assault only needs to show that the conduct was nonconsensual, that is, there was no freely given agreement. The first violation of this order is a class A misdemeanor. Subsequent violations are class 4 felony.
