How do I view case files and information?

Files are available for check out and copying according to the terms of the Clerk's File Inspection and Review Policy and Procedure.  Effective April, 1, 2002 , the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County will require a File Request Form and a valid photograph identification card (Attorney Identification Card, Driver's License, State Identification Card, etc.) in order to inspect or obtain copies of public records.  File Request Forms and Rules regarding File Use are also available at all file request counters located in the various divisions of the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court.

The Clerk also provides digital access terminals for the public to view case status information and document images online in the courthouse. For division and district location, hours and a listing of records maintained, visit our department pages.

In addition, the Clerk makes available through the App Store and GooglePlay a mobile application that can be installed on iPhone and Android devices. The free app includes options to search the court's electronic docket for civil and traffic cases, search the court call roster, get updated fee schedules, and locate and contact Cook County court facilities.
