Clerk of Court Dorothy Brown Launches New Website
- Tuesday, October 2, 2018
(CHICAGO)- The Honorable Dorothy Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, officially launched the Clerk’s Office’s new website by holding two presentation and demonstration sessions for website users, including attorneys, law firm staff, pro se litigants, and media on Monday, October 1, 2018, at the Cook County Administration Building, 22nd Floor Conference Rooms, 69 W. Washington St.
Over the past few months, the Clerk’s Office’s website homepage (www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org), has provided website users with the option to either use the classic website or test the new website to search case information, register for e-Filing, download court forms, process traffic tickets, or use any of the myriad services the Clerk’s Office offers online.
On Monday, October 1, 2018, with its official launching, the new Clerk’s Office website became the sole option for users.
“We are very excited to show users how our new website serves their needs very efficiently,” Clerk Brown told the demonstration session attendees. “The new website is designed to have a more modem look and feel, be more responsive, and includes many new enhancements.”
“My goal with this new website was to have our Chief Deputy Clerk of Web Services create a user-friendly browsing experience for our valued customers and stakeholders,” said Clerk Brown. “The new design is easy to navigate, sophisticated, and more user- friendly.”
Anthony McPhearson, Chief Information Officer, welcomed the attendees to the sessions. Lisa Dowdell, Chief Deputy Clerk of Web Services, guided the audience through the new website’s many features and functions. The sessions also featured segments on how to access the eFileIL portal via the Clerk’s Office’s new website. Cathy Sink, e-Filing Project Manager, and Sue Welfeld, Suburban e-Initiatives Liaison, conducted the e-Filing segments.
A few of the many enhancements provided by the Clerk’s Office’s new website are:
- The design has a more modern look and feel, and is more responsive or “mobile- friendly” for tablet and mobile devices, which enable the website to be viewed on devices of varying dimensions.
- The information is organized to be more task-oriented and helps users to effectively and efficiently complete their tasks.
- It provides cross-department searches for forms, FAQs, and procedures.
- It provides an improved case search that now allows attorneys to search for civil case types (i.e., Chancery, Law, Civil, and Domestic Relations) by their Cook County Attorney Codes.
- The website contains integrated social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to foster improved communication between the Clerk’s Office and its customers and stakeholders.
Clerk Brown noted that the Clerk’s Office will continuously update the website’s content with helpful information, relevant articles, court announcements, and new tools. Session attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and offer comments and suggestions at the new website launch presentations and demonstrations on Oct. 1.
The new website is the latest in a series of recent, technological advancements in the Clerk’s Office: a new case management system was installed in the County Division in February 2018; mandatory eFiling in all civil case types was implemented July 1, 2018; and a new case management system is currently being rolled out in the Criminal areas of law. It is the mission of the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County to serve the citizens of Cook County and the participants in the judicial system in an efficient, effective and ethical manner. A technologically-advanced website, that is designed properly, instills confidence and builds credibility.
