How to Get Your Next Court Date

Changes to Operations Due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Circuit Court of Cook County is currently hearing all matters by videoconferencing until further order of the court with the exception of jury trials

Read General Administrative Order 2020-2 for Information regarding video, telephone or in-person Hearings


Please note that the presiding judge may order an in-person appearance at their discretion. Masks or face coverings, temperature and health screenings are required to be admitted into all courthouses.

Judges will be available in person or remotely in each division, department and district to hear emergency matters as determined by the Presiding Judge of the respective division or district. Petitions for emergency orders in cases where the parties are not involved in a pending Domestic Relations matter shall be heard at 555 West Harrison (Chicago) and in Districts 2, 3, 5 and 6. Emergency petitions in Probate or Domestic Relations cases will be heard in those divisions at the Daley Center.

All in-person traffic and misdemeanor matters are continued until further order of court. Notice of the new court date shall be provided to the defendant by the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Emergency proceedings in misdemeanor cases will be heard as provided in GAO 2020-02.

All court matters may continue to be electronically filed with the Clerk of the Court, or pursuant to the exemptions enumerated in Illinois Supreme Court Rule 9.

How to Get Your Next Court Date

Please note that if your court date is still showing as being in June, the date has not been updated, please wait to receive a new postcard or email notice, and/or check back on the website at a later date. Also, if you call the automated system, and it says, “no next court date”, please text or email the specific division, department or district, or check the website, to verify.

To find out the date of your rescheduled court hearing, you may use one of the following methods:

  1. Search the Online Case Docket

    Use "Lookup Case Info" on at www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org to get information on your civil and traffic cases. You may search by name or case number for civil type cases, or your traffic ticket or driver’s license number for traffic cases. Criminal case information is not on the website for non-attorneys. Defendants should contact their Public Defender or Private Attorney for their next court date. Attorneys should use the CCC Portal for Illinois License Attorneys.   2. Text or Email

    To request your next court date for civil, traffic, and criminal cases, a text message or email can be sent to the appropriate division, department, or district holding your court hearing. Text or email your case number, or, if you do not have your case number, text the plaintiff or defendant’s name for civil case types, or the defendant’s name and birthdate for a criminal case.   3. Call the Automated Interactive Voice System

    Call the automated interactive voice system for the appropriate division, department, or district for civil, traffic or criminal cases, to obtain your next court date.   4. Illinois Licensed Attorneys Portal for Criminal Cases

    Illinois License Attorneys can obtain the next court date for criminal cases, by registering and using the CCC Portal for Illinois License Attorneys, visit Defendants should contact their Public Defender or Private Attorney for their next court date.
