Train the Trainer Expungement Series

In February of 2024, the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County presented a new series of events called Train the Trainer. These events provide community leaders with the opportunity to hear from our legal partners and arm themselves with knowledge about expungements to bring the information back to their communities. Our office has hosted two expungement trainings so far, and we look forward to continuing to provide these opportunities to our community. These events give our office the opportunity to work with our legal partners to continue to provide the highest quality information and resources to the community.

On July 10, 2024, we headed out to Malcolm X College to host a training focused on Juvenile Expungements, with a resource fair that followed. For the photo recap of this amazing event, check out our YouTube channel.

The advantage of attending an event like this:

1) Community Empowerment: By training community-based organizations and ministers, we empower them to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals with criminal records. This event aligns with our commitment to social justice and community welfare.

2) Reduction in Recidivism: Expungement can significantly reduce recidivism rates by providing individuals with a second chance of life. Training local leaders ensures that more people can benefit from this opportunity.

3) Stronger Community Bond: Hosting this event fosters collaboration and cooperation among various community stakeholders, strengthening our community bond and creating a support network for those in need.

4) Economic Benefits: A cleaner record enables individuals to access better employment opportunities, contributing to their financial stability and reducing the burden on social services.

5) Positive Image: Our office will be seen as proactive in addressing social issues, which can attract positive attention, funding opportunities, and partnerships.
