Accessibility and ADA Accommodations

The Clerk of the Circuit Court provides reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title II. Our Office is committed to responding to requests for access to our following services:

  • E-filing assistance through our on-site service terminals
  • E-filing training services and information located in Room LL12 of the Daley Center located at 50 W. Washington, Chicago, Illinois
  • Court records and documents filed with our Office; and
  • Various Clerk of the Circuit Court sponsored programs, such as our annual Expungement Summit.

If you are seeking an accommodation or access to a court proceeding taking place within the Circuit Court of Cook County, you are encouraged to contact the Office of Accessibility and Education’s Court Disability Coordinator at (312) 603-1915(312) 603-1914 (TTY), or ocj.accommodations@cookcountyil.gov.

If you are not appearing in a court proceeding as a witness, litigant, an attorney or observer and have a disability other than deaf and hard of hearing, and you need access to our services listed above, a request for accommodation or services shall be made 7 days in advance. The request shall be as specific as possible and include a description of the accommodation sought and the date, time and location where the accommodation is needed.

The request shall be made using an Accommodation Request Form.

The ADA Coordinator shall respond in writing, and, where appropriate, in a format accessible to the requester within seven (7) days from the date the request was received.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing

If you are deaf or hard of hearing and plan to visit one of our court locations for the purpose of obtaining court records or e-filing at one of our terminals, or you are attending one of our Clerk of the Circuit Court sponsored programs and events, you may request an interpreter within fourteen (14) days of your visit or our program date.

Examples of communication accommodations:

  • American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL)
  • Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI)
  • Other (as specifically requested)

The Clerk's Office will respond within 7 days from the date received to confirm that the requested service will be provided. Please contact the office if you have not received a confirmation of service within 7 days of your request.
